QUINQUAGESIMUM

QUINQUAGESIMUM

To celebrate Albert Baronian’s 50 years as a gallery owner, on September 6 the Fondation CAB opens the “Quinquagesimum” (latin for “fiftieth anniversary”.
This is Albert Baronian’s third exhibition at CAB, following “Bande à Part” in 2014 and “Shaping Light” in 2018. It is not, strictly speaking, a “retrospective”, but a presentation of works by some thirty artists who, at one time or another, have crossed the gallery owner’s path. Some have gone on to become major figures in the contemporary art world or the market, and most of them have continued their collaboration with Albert Baronian to the present day. For some, this has been their first solo exhibition, either in Europe, Belgium or Brussels. The choice was made in agreement with the Fondation CAB, so that the exhibition would reflect the spirit and atmosphere of the place. Visitors will be greeted by just one figurative work: Gilbert & George’s “Morn”.

Lynda Benglis, Alain Biltereyst, Marie José Burki, Jo Delahaut, Daniel Dezeuze, Lionel Estève, Michel Frere, Max Frintrop, Gilbert & George, Tony Grand, Olaf Holzapfel, Bernard Joubert, Berndt Lohaus, Joseph Marioni, Xavier Mary, Mario Merz, Olivier Mosset, Matt Mullican, Richard Nonas, Giuilio Paolini, Charles Sandison, Jan Schoonhoven, Alain Séchas, Philippe Van Snick, Takis, Mitja Tusek, Richard Tuttle, Charlotte vander Borght, Claude Viallat , Stanley Whitney, Gilberto Zorio and Yves Zurstrassen.
