From January 12 to March 4, 2023, the Galerie La Forest Divonne presents the first solo exhibition in Brussels of Christian Renonciat.

Since the 1980’s, Christian Renonciat has been traveling throughout Europe, the United States and Asia, exhibiting his extraordinary wooden sculptures. A virtuoso and sensitive work that has spread from trompe l’oeil to the limits of abstraction.
In Brussels he will present an important group of recent bas-reliefs in lime, ayous or cedar. Blankets, sheets of crumpled paper, cardboard boxes or tarpaulins, that one would like to touch so much they seem real, velvety and supple. If the spectator is at first blown away by the prowess of the techniques and the veracity of the forms, the spectacular impression quickly gives way to the delicate emotion of the memory, so much the art of Renonciat plunges us in the delicious memory of the feelings. The touch of all these materials immediately reminds our fingers and our imagination, carried by the warmth of wood.
