Alioune Diagne – Tukki
Alioune Diagne – Tukki
Born in 1985 in Fatick, Senegal, Alioune Diagne lives and works between Dakar and Vienne in Isère, France. Graduated in 2008 from the Beaux-Arts in Dakar, he immediately distinguished himself by founding in 2013 an unique mode of expression : the “figuro-abstro-. Composed of a figurative created from an infinite number of tiny unique element, Diagne’s work challenges by its complexity and the dynamism of its scenes which depict the daily life of the black community and the African diaspora through the worl.
Inspired by the philosophy of calligraphy, the “figuro-abstro” tells, like this mysterious scriptural art, an imaginary writing, an universal language and the intimate story of fragments of the artist’s personal life and travels. At the age of 37 he thus lays the groundwork for deep reflection on current issues as the ecology, the place of women in society, the racism and the notion of transmission or heritage.
Since 2011, his work has been the subject of numerous personal and collective exhibitions in Europe, Africa and Asia, including “Sing or Swim”, 11th Biennale de Dakar, Senegal, 2014 ; “Itinerary on Colors”, Espace Jean Drevon, Saint-Jean-de-Bournay (France), 2014 ; the exhibition outside the walls of Art Basel, 2017, Basel ; “Un nouveau regard”, Aosta, Italy, 2017. His work has also been part of the national collection of Senegal since 2019. In 2022, Diagne’s work entered the national collection of Senegal and was presented in an exhibition of the Dakar 2022 biennal at the Grand Théâtre de Dakar.
